SIMONIS 860 DEALER, TABLE MECHANIC ON STAFF FOR ALL TABLE REPAIRS!!
It's a long story really but well worth the read! Over 35 years ago I started doing cue repairs. It was during this time I paid attention to a lot of the manufactured cues out there and have owned and used a lot of them in my pool playing career. I could never find that “hit” I was looking for with just about anything I tried or purchased. There were a few that I really liked such as Schon, Predator and a couple of others, Mezz was another, but it wasn’t until I got the chance to play with a Tim Scruggs made cue. It was right then that I knew IMMEDIATELY I was NOT going to find that hit I wanted from a production cue unless I made a one for myself. Tim Scruggs was a world renowned professional cue maker and this custom cue surpassed anything I ever tried in my entire life, from the hit, feel, feedback, and all-around playability, I knew I was not going to find that performance I was looking for in a cue unless I made my own Custom Cue. Production cues just do not have the passion, research, and components in them that Custom Cues do. Being a lifelong woodworker and wanting to get back in it, I set out to build my shop again, but this time focusing specifically on cue making. After seeing the demand for custom cues and with having the passion that I possess, the addiction started. I have been doing custom cues now for a very long time and I must be honest here, this endeavor was a LOT tougher than I had initially thought!! I have to say however, I have finally found that “HIT” that I mentioned earlier, and after a very long painstaking process of trial and error, countless hours of massive research, testing different joinery methods, pins, joints and ferrules as well as different woods, plus a pile of scrap cues that still stands in the corner as a constant reminder of the countless hours I have put into this passion with trial and error.
To get to this level of playability in my cues I have studied some of the best of the best, such as Herman Rambow, George Balabushka, Gus Szamboti, Burton Spain, Tad Kohara and the aforementioned Tim Scruggs. By using a very, highly guarded, proprietary joining method on ALL of my builds including my full splice cues, I have created a reputation for providing an incredibly good hitting cue. With the release of my signature series cues, the joinery in these cues surpasses the earlier cues I have made. I have been paying strict attention to detail and, as meticulous as I am, I have created a very good presence with the customers who have had a custom cue made so far to date, in fact, a lot of those customers have won tournaments right after purchasing a custom cue!!!! From my personally designed and trademarked CF Ravage™ shafts to the newest addition to the pool world the Ravage™ "T" the 'T" stands for torrefied maple. This wood will and already is changing the way this game is played. It is definitely a more consistent, incredibly stable, low deflection, provides excellent feedback, and it actually looks really good too, in fact it’s the shaft I am currently playing with myself! I have retired my own Predator 1st generation Throne 3 cue that was accompanied by Predator Vantage shaft and have built my own " Signature Series" cue, as shown on the left, that I am currently playing with, and at a very high level I might add. This is all due to the proper construction techniques, very high-end domestic and exotic woods I always use here, and the newly designed Ravage™ T shafts I am using with it. If you haven't tried a torrefied maple shaft yet, or for that matter one of my custom cues, then your game is not to the level it can be then, because they will take you there! I PERSONALLY Guarantee I ONLY use the absolute Highest-grade, slow growth, quarter-sawn, Canadian hard maple for any of my shaft builds as well as any other place I use hard maple in.
I am relentlessly searching and searching and searching again to bring in only the best wood possible. I have accounts all over the world, for exotic woods, and have standing orders with my suppliers to set aside the best of the best when they come across the wood that meets my specifications. Being a lifelong woodworker and fully understanding the characteristics of wood and why certain types are used in the construction of cues, from the outer appearance to the cores I use, this really does allow me to create the hit you will enjoy with your next custom cue. Finally, and as mentioned previously, I do play at a high level and want to provide, through my passion, expertise, and dedication to this sport, the highest level playing cues and shafts that can be made!
